Saturday morning, my sister headed back south. She has been such a tremendous help taking care of me this week. The good news is… drum roll…
She is moving back to Jax!!! She already found a house in St. Augustine and should be here within the next month. I’m thrilled!
Before she left this morning, she took me for a walk up the street without my walker. I think I did pretty good!! In fact, I’ve been walking around the house without the walker for two days now. It makes me happy that I’m getting stronger.
Tom & I just relaxed around the house Saturday. I thought about going in the pool because the doctor said it would be good exercise, but the water was a little chilly, so I chickened out. The best alternative – sit on the couch and watch football all day!
I had a couple of visitors this weekend too. On Saturday, my daughter-in-law Bethany came by to help me do some housework. Then my friends Cheryl & Ernie brought us over dinner. I was so happy because I had no idea what we were going to have for dinner. It was great!
I have to admit, I did not watch the gator game! I was exhausted and went to bed by 8:30. I slept through the night and didn’t wake up till 7:30 am! 1st time in a long time. It was amazing.
Sandy, Amy, and Andrea (girlfriends/mentors from work) came to see me on Sunday. Sandy and Amy I’ve known since I was 18 years old and Andrea I’ve known for about 15 years. They got me out of the house and took me to lunch at Palm Valley Outdoors Bar & Grill. I had smoked salmon, mashed potatoes, and grilled green beans. It was delicious. We had a nice visit for 5 hours! It was so good to see them and spend time with them.
My date with them encouraged me to rid of the walker altogether. I refused to go to lunch with them while using the walker. I have practiced walking without the walker for the past three days now, and I feel so independent. I did cling onto a couple of arms for extra support. They wouldn’t have it any other way. After the visit, I iced my back, then heat (from a hot shower), and then iced again. No nap today, so hopefully, I can have another good night’s sleep!

Paula, reading your blog is just like sitting and talking with you. I love your amazing spirit!
I forget that it’s a new day all in it’s own right. A wonderful day.
