Life is Good & Treatment is Working!

Hello everyone! So thankful for the comments you make in my blog. Also, all the private messages and phone calls checking on me. I’m doing pretty good. Just still have back pain from the surgery. It is really the pain that wraps around my ribs. I can’t wait for the day I wake up, and no pain exists!

I learned how to make another new dish. It’s called Shepard pie. OMG, it’s so good, and a nice way to include veggies in the meal and not even taste them. I found a recipe that’s whole 30 compliant. It is now a weekly meal and Tommy ❤️’s it!

On February 12th, Tom, Shelby, and I participated in the Chasing tails 5k. It was an absolutely beautiful day. I will say I did not come in last place 😜. Tom and I walked with our dog, Rusty. He was a good boy considering all the dogs around us! Shelby and her dog Finn ran. Finn was still full of energy after the race. Rusty wanted no parts of Finn trying to continue to play. Haha. We are looking forward to our next 5k.

February 13th, we had dinner at Maggiano’s with our good friends Kevin and Karen. It was fabulous, of course. We caught up on all our kids and their grandkids. They have a 5-year-old grandson Bryson who is racing go-carts with the 8 and under age group. I got the biggest kick out of this little guy racing. He knows car racing terminology and sounds like a real character. Tom and I are going to go see his next race! I forgot to take pictures of us at dinner, so Karen sent me a picture of them.

Tom and I sat down to watch the super bowl. Both of us were saying we were gonna go to bed after 1/2 time. Boy, was that an exciting game! We didn’t have a dog in the fight, but we were sorta going for LA because we wanted (or Tom wanted) Stafford to get a super bowl win. Everyone in my family ranted and raved over the 1/2 time show. Me ehhh, it was ok. I’m not a big fan of the music. I knew some of the songs because they were popular, but I didn’t know others. But it was definitely entertaining. Tom and I ended up staying up to the bitter end.

Valentine’s day was a nice day. Tommy got me a beautiful mini rose bush. I just hope I don’t kill it. We brought home a to-go classic dish from Maggiano’s. So we had a nice romantic dinner. The following day I made homemade Shepard’s pie for Tom. Until next year…

The following day Tom & I meet with the breast cancer doctor. She said my blood work numbers were good. I asked her again about the hyperbaric chamber as therapy, and she said absolutely not. She said UF Health, Mayo, and MD Anderson are against hyperbaric chambers because of the risk of spreading cancer. She approved me getting the IV of GLUTATHIONE. It’s a good thing because I have been doing it. So I’m not going to do the chamber at this time. I told her my hair was thinning, and I was tired all the time. So she will order a Pet scan and brain scan, and if the scans are clean, she will lower the dose of Ibrance.

February 18th was a hectic day. Woke up at 6:00 am to head to the hospital for a day of scans. I had one at 7:00 and one at 11:40. Shelby went with me, which is a good thing. I had a little breakfast partner and retail therapy shopper to hang out with! We enjoyed our breakfast at First Watch and shopping spree at Kohls! A little retail therapy never hurts anyone. I received a note just before the 11:40 scan that my portal was recently updated. From what we could tell, the PET scan read all is clear. But I wanted to hear that from the doctor, and I will Pray for her to call me soon. If not, I will call and bug them!

Later, Teri, Nicole, Shelby, and I headed to the Applebees. We had appetizers, entrees of deliciousness, and a drink for dessert. It had been years since any of us had been. It was the obvious place to go considering we were going to see Walker Hayes at the Florida Theater. He is the guy that sings the “Fancy Like” song and dances all over social media with his kids! It was a great show, and I loved it. He brings his wife and 6 kids on tour with him. Excellent writer, singer, and performer. He’s gonna be big !

The following day I was so tired. But I did do some running around the house and watched the Olympics.

Saturday night, we had a girls’ night again! Mom, Teri, Shelby, Nicole, and I watched the movie Merry Me. I’m SOOOOOO glad I did not pay to see that movie. J Lo is a beautiful lady. You can tell she takes exceptional care of herself. So we all took one for the team and watched with Mamma Sue. Ok, it was a predictable smushy chic flick, but I have to admit I wanted to see it too. 😜😂

Sunday was race day. The Daytona 500! Yee hee. Did a little running around. Picked up some organizers and tried to organize my food in the pantry & refrigerator. Boy, does it need it.

Wednesday, my friend Amy Lewis and I met at Mellow Mushroom. She and I have been friends for years! In fact, she used to be my boss when I first became an underwriter back in the early 90s. While we were eating lunch, I finally received a call from Dr. Crozier’s nurse, Lisa. She said the brain scan was also free of cancer. She confirmed the PET scan was clear too. Yay!!!! Amy and I enjoyed catching up on everything.

Later in the evening, what do the Scanlon’s do? We celebrated at my favorite restaurant, Cantina Louie, with yummy shrimp tacos! I ate a few chips and a peach margarita too. Shhhhh, probably not on the whole 30 diet.

Thursday, my friend Nicole and I went to have a classy night out on the town to make some memories, Lol. I was ready for bed at 4:00, but I managed to muster up some energy for the night ahead. We went to a super cute restaurant called Prospect and then headed to the Florida Times-Union Center to watch the musical CATS. We didn’t know, but the theater required face masks. Needless to say, the mask mandate didn’t go over too well with some people. Most places have lifted the mask mandate, so I’m not sure why they require it. I took mine off once I got to my seat & they turned off the lights. I could NOT sit during the show & not breath. The show was good. They sang and danced for the entire 2 hours.

Saturday, Teri, Shelby, and I headed off to Tallahassee to watch my nephew Jackson wrestle Regionals. My sister Lisa got there early so she could save me a place to sit in Tom’s rocking portable chair. Well, Jackson Went 5-1 finished 3rd in his weight class. Now he is headed to state, and we are all so proud of him! He has been wrestling a couple of years. This year he is a freshman at Middleburg high and QUALIFIED FOR STATE. Next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, he will be in Orlando. Not sure which days I will go. But I am so stinking excited for him!
