Tom was a champ taking me all around Baptist hospitals.

The first appointment was at the Hill Breast Center. They saw a spot in the breast MRI that they initially diagnosed as being the Covid shot I had recently received. They wanted to double check with an ultrasound. The tech looked all over the place and took a bunch of pictures with NO indication of any cancer. She tried her best to find an answer for us. After an hour of looking nothing cancerous showed up.

Next we went and got an X-ray of my back so the doctor could go over what happened to my spine the night I fell & thankfully Tom caught me! Then Mike the PA went over the images with us. Very interesting to say the least. My bone collapse around T7. They put in 8 screws in my spine from T9-T5 (I believe) and connected them with 2 rods and bolted it all up. He showed us where there are other bone breakdown from the lesions that we have to watch. Radiation starting next week should hit these spots. He said the bone could grow back so we will be watching what happens. I have to just be careful & never fall again. Follow up appointment set up for 3 months which will just make sure the healing properly. I get to go in the pool starting next week. Yay!! Walking around the pool is supposed to be good Therapy for the back.

Then we went to see the breast Oncologist Dr Crozier. She was fantastic!!! Very optimistic and kind!! She confirmed I have stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer because it spread to the bone. However this is not an automatic death sentence. Many people live years with this disease. She said MD Anderson’s review of the bone biopsy’s showed inconclusive evidence of metastatic breast cancer. Treatable not curable. She laid out a plan of me starting oral medication called IBRANCE and another medication Hormone therapy called letrozole. I will start the medication after the radiation is over. There are several different medications we can try but she said we will start with these. I will also get a shot that will help strengthen my bones. And the crazy thing is she has treated many patients like me where the cancer has left the breast & ended on the bone & they never find cancer in the breastd. Crazy stuff!!

Last appointment was with the urologist Dr. Stieglitz. She was the cutest Dr. I have ever seen!! She said I just have an overactive bladder. No fear!!! There is a pill for that! There is also exercises to strengthen your pelvic area when the urge to pee occurs. Sign me up! I think this will change my life forever. I’ll let you know how it works in 6 weeks. You won’t be calling me Momma P anymore.

What a day! All good news! It’s now time for me to take a nap!!!

View IBRANCE Caregiver Guide!

Today I had a day full of appointments beginning at 7:30 am and ending at 3:00!
